William Dean”Bill” Cheek

William Dean “Bill” Cheek, 66, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away at Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana on November 22, 2016.

Bill was born in Cincinnati, OH, son of the late Robert Cheek Sr. and Vivian McGranahan Cheek. He graduated from Aurora High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Kay Howard, whom he would marry. He worked as an electrician for Monsanto, retiring after over thirty years of service.

Bill was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, and his faith was very important to him. He was also a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #51, the Murat Temple, S.E. IN Shrine Club, the Sons of the American Legion, and S.E. Indiana Art Guild. He participated in painting the “Murals of Aurora”, and was particularly proud of the mural he and other artists had painted on the Tandy’s IGA building. In his younger years, Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, and vacationing with his family. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles. He had a great sense of humor and was a very caring person, as he always thought of others first. Bill was a great family man, a loving husband to Kay for over 47 years, and a wonderful father and grandfather. Bill will be missed by his friends, his family, and all who knew him.

Surviving are wife Kay Cheek; daughters, Amie (Terry) Hahn, Aurora, Angie (Ryan) Heller, Dillsboro, IN; brothers, Robert (Karen) Cheek Jr., Hebron, KY, Michael L. (Judy) Cheek, Aurora, Thomas (Tina) Cheek, Aurora; Sister, Ruth Cheek, Lawrenceburg, IN; and grandson, Parker Hahn.

He was preceded in death by parents, Robert Cheek Sr. and Vivian Cheek.

Friends will be received Sunday, November 27, 2016, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 9670 Mt. Tabor Rd., Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, November 28, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Mona Safley officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, the S.E. Indiana Art Guild, or the Shriners Burn Institute.
