Wednesday Morning Crash Claims One Man, Injures Three

GREENSBURG – An early morning car crash on State Road 3, about a mile north of C.R. 650 N., claimed the life of one man and injured three others Wednesday.

Investigators say Charity Rigby, 35, of Greensburg, was traveling north on the state road around 5:40 a.m. when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a Honda passenger car operated by 25-year-old Cody J. Coy, of Spiceland, Indiana, on the driver’s side.

Rigby’s car continued traveling north and sideswiped another vehicle driven by Heather Banks, 23, of Connersville, before going off the west side of the roadway and striking a utility pole.

The vehicle operated by Banks went off the east side of the road and into a field.

Coy died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, police say.

Rigby, along with her two children, were rushed to Decatur County Memorial Hospital for medical treatment and was later released.

Banks was not injured as a result of the crash.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. They were assisted on the scene by Greensburg Police, Rush County Sheriff’s Department, Decatur County EMS, Clarksburg Fire Department, Milroy Fire, Greensburg Fire and the Decatur County Coroner.
