Weather Will Heat Up For Labor Day

swWe have been spoiled by cooler than average temperatures this summer, however it will be warming up for the Labor Day weekend.

Before Wednesday, Southeastern Indiana has had only six days above 90 degrees this summer, according to the National Weather Service.

Just a few weeks ago, temperatures in the evening got down into the 40’s.

Myron Padgett, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio says, “Ninety degree temperatures this week are certainly not uncommon, it has just been less than last year, and a little less than normal.”

On average, there are 21 days of 90 degree weather or higher over the course of the summer; last year we had nearly 45 days.

The rise in temperatures over Labor Day will be convenient for those looking to get a late summer swim. This weekend should mark the final opportunity for swimming at the Batesville Memorial Pool this year. The pool will be open Aug. 31- Sept. 2, from noon-5:00p.m. daily.

Padgett said, “It will be warm temperatures through the Labor Day weekend, then cooling off some after that.”
