TIPTON, In. – Samantha Voegele was the winner of the Jim True Ford and WRBI Country Showdown at Liberty Park this summer and nearly took the crown at the state level this past weekend.

The first place nod in June secured Voegele an invitation to the state level competition which was held in Tipton County Friday.

The 16-year-old Noblesville resident sang “Take Me As I Am” made famous by Faith Hill, and “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” by Shania Twain.

Voegele’s performance Friday was solid enough for a second place finish. Family members who were in attendance, some of which live in Batesville, said judges told the young singer the vote between first and second place was extremely close.

The top spot in the state went to The Meek Sisters, of Mooresville, Indiana. They will now travel to New Jersey to compete in the national competition.
