Mr. Harold “Vernon” Hankins, age 68, of Georgetown, Kentucky, entered this life on October 13, 1948, in Madison, Indiana, the son of the late, Harold Leland and Ruth Margaret (Alcorn) Hankins. He was raised in Moorefield, Indiana and was a 1966 graduate of the Vevay High School. Vernon was employed for Wood Concepts in Georgetown, Kentucky, retiring in 2012, after 28 years of service. Vernon enjoyed woodworking, fishing and attending flea markets. Vernon will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Vernon passed away at 8:21 am, Friday, November 18, 2016, at the UK Healthcare in Lexington, Kentucky.
Vernon will be deeply missed by his sister: Hazel Rilki of Hoffman Estates, IL; his nieces: Julie Darbro and her husband: Tim of Vevay, IN, Beverly Gullion and her husband: H.L. of Vevay, IN and Robin Springer of Vevay, IN; his aunt: Agnes Hankins of Vevay, IN and his several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold Leland Hankins, died November 24, 1974 and Ruth Margaret (Alcorn) Hankins, died December 24, 2001 and his brother: Irvin Gene Hankins, died June 25, 1970.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 1:00 pm, by Rev. Howard Wade, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
