Vernon David Horn, age 72, of Brookville, Indiana died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his residence in Brookville.

Born December 25, 1943 in Washington, Indiana he was the son of the late Vernon John & Helen Mae (Messell) Horn. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis. On April 21, 2006 he was united in marriage to the former Verna Jean Trammell, and she survives.

Mr. Horn was a retired Union Boilermaker, and a member of the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville; as well as the Fraternal Order of Red Men Oshawnee #220 of Brookville.

Besides Verna, his loving wife of over 10 years, survivors include a son, Kevin W. Horn of Indianapolis, Indiana, two step-daughters, Lenore M. Sills of Lexington, Kentucky, LaDonna Gabbard of Brookville; two step-sons, Stan Harry of Florida and William Harry Jr. of Brookville; three grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Family & friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

James B. Caniff will officiate the Funeral Services at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
