Two suspects are behind bars Wednesday afternoon after an officer-involved shooting and pursuit that stemmed from a residential burglary.
Authorities say they were conducting surveillance around noon on Wednesday, as part of an ongoing burglary investigation when police identified two suspects who they believe broke into a home on Walters Road in Northern Dearborn County.
Surveillance units followed the suspected vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Weisberg Road and Five Points.
Police say the vehicle appeared to be stopping when an Indiana State Trooper exited his vehicle which is when the suspect vehicle attempted to strike the trooper.
The trooper fired several shots at the vehicle and a pursuit ensued.
Police followed the suspects through Dearborn County north on Lawrenceville Road across S.R. 46 onto St. Peters Road in Franklin County.
The chase led to Blue Creek Road and eventually Sturwold Road where the two suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Both suspects were apprehended a short time later.
One suspect suffered a minor injury but refused medical treatment. No other injuries were reported. An ISP spokesman was unsure if the suspects injury was the result of gunfire or during the foot pursuit.
The names of suspects and involved officers were not immediately released.
The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as information becomes available.

Two suspects have reportedly been taken into custody after shots were fired in connection to a burglary Wednesday afternoon.
Dearborn County dispatchers say the burglary took place in Sunman and a pursuit followed. The suspects were arrested in Franklin County.
Dearborn County Sheriffs Deputies are being assisted on the scene by the Indiana State Police and the Batesville Police Department.
