Thomas Edward Doolan, age 82 of Osgood, IN formerly of Indianapolis,  was born January 19, 1932 in Osgood.  He was the son of the late Wm. & Loretta Willis Doolan. He entered into rest, Monday, June 2, 2014 at King’s Daughters Hospital in Madison, IN. Tom was an army veteran & a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 88 in Indianapolis.  He was a past employee of Cummins Diesel Engine Company of Columbus, IN . Tom’s hobby was collecting books, when he moved back to Osgood, he brought over 1,000 books with him. He was known as the” Professor” by his family in Osgood!  This was because he was so knowledgeable due to the amount of reading that he did. He would buy three different newspapers each day and read all, along with reading many other books on biographies of past Presidents of the US along with many other history books & novels .  He was proud of the fact that he owned numerous First Editions !

SURVIVORS:
Brother:  Richard (Harriet) Doolan of Jackson, CA

Numerous nephews, nieces & great nephews & nieces survive.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Carl & James Leroy Doolan, also two sisters; Elizabeth Jones & Helen Morris.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3183 is sponsoring an art contest for students in grades 9-12. The contest is a great way to earn money for college. The art must be on paper or canvas and have a patriotic theme. Digital Art is not accepted. The art must be original. Judging is based on originality, presentation, and patriotism expressed. There are monetary awards given locally and at the state level. The national winners will receive scholarships. Home schooled students are eligible, foreign exchange are not. Your entry must be signed by a teacher. You can obtain an entry form by calling Kay Pulskamp, chairperson at 934-3442. Please submit your art by March 31, 2015. The first place winner will be sent to the State Scholarships Chairman for judging. Your art will be returned to you after judging is complete.
