Switzerland County Logging Accident Claims Osgood Man *Update*

The Osgood man that lost his life in a logging accident in Switzerland County was a timber cutter for Rodney Sloan Logging Company in Batesville for approximately twenty years.

Services for 57-year-old Richard Hunter will be held Friday at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood.

First Report (8:00 a.m.)

A logging accident in Switzerland County claimed the life of an Osgood man.

Officers responded to a report of a fallen tree that pinned a man underneath it on Monday morning around 11:15 a.m.

Richard Hunter, of Osgood, was pronounced dead at the scene around 11:48 a.m.

Authorities believe Hunter was attempting to cut down a tree it when it got hung up on another tree. When he attempted to cut the second tree, the first cut tree fell to the ground and striking Hunter and pinnning him underneath it.

Hunter worked for a logging company based in Batesville. His death is being investigated as a logging accident, the Switzerland County Sheriff said.
