FrantzSusan Jane Frantz, 71,  of Aurora, IN, passed away February 15, 2014 in Fort Wayne IN.

She was born March 4, 1942 in Cincinnati OH. She grew up on the banks of the Ohio river in Aurora and was never happier than when she was surrounded by her hills and could watch the river.

Having lived many places after graduating from Purdue University, Susan settled in her home town, co-owned a small hobby business, and spent many years working with and advocating for others in local nursing homes. In her younger days, Susan loved camping and hiking as was evident in her 25+ years in the Girl Scouts of America.

Her sunny smile, random happy whistling and unique use of the word “fantastic” are just a few of the ways she will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her Children, Donald Frantz of Aurora, IN and Kristan (Matt) Donk of Fort Wayne, IN; Brother David Scharf of Aurora, IN and Grandson Alex Juliano of Fort Wayne, IN. She is also survived by her Niece Elisa Scharf Lee, and Nephew David (Carrie) Scharf.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert William Scharf and Margaret Halliday Scharf and elder brother, James Scharf and niece, Anne Scharf.

Friends will be received from 11:00 – 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.  Memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm with Mike Page officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Random Acts of Kindness in Susan’s memory are encouraged and  contributions may be made to The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society.  Please call the funeral home office at (812)926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.
