A Batesville family will appear on “Family Feud” this month.

The Struewing family will appear on popular TV show where families compete against each other to name the most popular responses to survey questions.

“I have been watching Family Feud since Richard Dawson was the host,” exclaimed Batesville resident Lynn Struewing.

Dawson was the original anchor of the long-running game show that is currently hosted by Steve Harvey.

Lynn Struewing participated in the show along with her siblings, Bill Struewing, Batesville, and Lori Hill, Greenwood. They were accompanied by Bill’s daughter, Meredith Struewing and Lori’s daughter Emily Hill. Lynn, Bill and Lori are the children of Dick and Roberta Struewing of Morris.

Lynn attended the tryouts for the show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in April. She didn’t inform her family until they were selected for a second audition.

“They were excited when they found out!”

The producers of the show asked why their family should be chosen. Along with the family having a sense of humor, Lynn told them that all three siblings are nurses.

The family has also dealt with their share of adversity. Last March, Lynn was diagnosed with State 4 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

She told producers, “It was a really rough here for myself and my family, but [family] is what got me through.”

The Struewing clan advanced through the audition process before they were invited to the taping of the show in Atlanta with ten other families. The Batesville native’s were one of only five families to make the final cut.

“Once you get there and you got the lights and the cameras all around you, it’s a whole different story,” Struewing said, “It is an experience we will never forget!”

The details — who won, who lost — cannot be revealed until the show airs.
