Three area residents are garnering attention for their production of a Doritos commercial.

With the help of her sister and a family friend, Sarah Lattire, 25, of Sunman entered into the company’s “Crash the Super Bowl” contest, and so far the video is one of the most viewed submissions this year.

The contest may sound familiar, as it should.

In 2009, the winning submission of a Doritos commercial produced by the Herbert Brothers of Batesville, became a national sensation. Since appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and the “Today Show”, the brothers have produced commercials for the likes of Pepsi, Go Daddy and Franks Red Hot.

Did the Herbert Bros. have a role in the commercial produced by Lattire?

“They just gave me some advice, have the sound and lighting professional, and that was basically it,” Sarah Lattire recalled, who is also a nurse at an Indianapolis hospital. “I really didn’t want a lot of help from outside sources, I guess I wanted to just do it myself!”

Lattire created the concept of the commercial, and with the help of her sister Holly Lattire, 16, and family friend Michelle Munchel, 16, who are both current East Central students from Sunman.

The must-see commercial is titled “Doritos at the Daycare.” The group took advantage of their resources by casting children from their parish, St. Nicholas Church, and filming it at a Sunman daycare. The main character “Sam” is played by talented young actor Henry Kraus.

The more views and 5-star ratings the video receives, the better chance the commercial has of advancing to the next level of the contest. The winner gets their commercial aired during the Superbowl as well as $1,000,000 cash, and the opportunity to work on the next ‘Avengers’ movie.

Michelle Munchel said, “That would be great so 5-star it!”

Sarah, an aspiring filmmaker said, “In our eyes we have already won. We have completed this and we are really young. It has just been a real blessing.”

Individuals can go to the Doritos website and vote for their favorite video. Five finalists for this year’s competition will be announced around Jan. 4.
