Shirley Marie Herbert, age 73 of Milan, IN passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at home.  The daughter of Lester and Marie (Ashcraft) Moody was born on October 31, 1940 in Batesville, IN.

 

On June 3, 1972 Shirley married David Herbert in Osgood, IN at the United Methodist Church.  Shirley retired from Hill-Rom in 2004 and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Milan.  Her door was always open to everyone, whether it be 1 or 100.  She would always just welcome them in and put another can in the pot.  Now with 24 grand children and over 50 great and great great grandchildren her biggest fulltime job became just being a grandma.

 

She is survived by her husband David, two daughters Tina Ashcraft (Randy) and Debra Arthur (Albert) both of Milan, two sons Robert “Bo” Herbert (Lori) of Moores Hill and Vernon “Hoss” Herbert of Milan, 24 grandchildren, over 50 great and great great grandchildren, one brother Vernon Moody of Batesville, one sister Carolyn Browder of Greensburg along with two sister-in-laws Ada Moody of Greensburg and Margie Moody of Batesville.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Thomas Herbert, her sister Cordillia “Sis” Hoegeman and her brothers Jess, Bob and Cecil Moody.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 4-7pm and Funeral Services will be 10am on Wednesday, February 12, 2014all at Grace Baptist Church in Milan, IN.  Pastor Charles Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in the Batesville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

 

Memorials may be given to Grace Baptist Church, the Milan Fire Department or Milan Rescue 30.
