Sherrill Dean Stamey, 74, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016.
He was born Monday, May 19, 1941 in Spruce Pine, NC, son of the late Monroe Stamey and the late Glennie Duncan Stamey.
Sherrill served his Country proudly as a member of the United States Navy.
He worked as a Safety Director for McLean Trucking.
Sherrill was a member of the Aurora American Legion and American Trucking Association, he was the Aurora Disabled American Veterans Vice Commander and the Vice President of the Homeowners Association at Forest Gardens in Lake Forest, California. He enjoyed fishing, boating, road trips, singing and spending time with his family. He loved his dogs, Cookie and Sunshine.
Surviving are his loving wife of almost 55 years, Judith Ann Stamey; children, Annette M. (Gordon) Redwine of Moores Hill, IN, Donna K. Fordyce of Whitesboro, TX, Judy (James) Trottier of Weatherford, TX, Sherrill “Man” Dean (Misuzu) Stamey II of Herndon, VA; siblings, Linda (Coet) Combs of Titusville, FL, Britt (Donna) Stamey of Troutville, VA; grandchildren, Tanner Redwine, Adam Fordyce, Mattie Johnson, Sierra Eddington, Zak Trottier, Alexander Stamey, Kayla Stamey and Allie Stamey; great-grandchild, Olivia Ann Trottier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Michael Stamey; brother, Wayne Stamey; sister June Nottingham; grandaughter, Abigail M. Redwine.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
