Ronald EffingRonald L. Effing, age 66 of Hamburg, Indiana, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at his residence, with his loving wife by his side. Born August 14, 1947 he is the son of Loretta (Nee; Schrank) and John Effing. He married Diane Wissler August 30, 1968 in Richmond, Indiana. Ron was a carpenter and the owner of Effing and Norton Construction Co.

Ron was an avid deer hunter and he loved to build things, especially new residential home construction and the remodeling of older dwellings. Over the years he owned several Corvette’s that he loved to drive around in. In his spare time, Ron liked to watch old western movies and to go out and eat with his wife Diane. He enjoyed eating homemade pies for dessert. He loved his dogs especially Jake from years ago to most recently Duke which was an abandoned dog that he took in. Ron’s true passion though was his family, most especially his wife, children and grandchildren, which he loved dearly. He loved his granddaughter Alexa, whom he was able to visit and spend time with for the nine short days that she lived. Also most recently being able to hold his grandson Jackson who was only one week old before Ron passed away, gave him great pleasure.

Calling will be held Tuesday, May 13th, from 4- 7 p.m., at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7 p.m., with Linda Rosengren officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ron Effing Memorial Fund c/o FCN Bank to benefit his grandson Jackson Weaver.  (www.weigelfh.com)
