Rodney Jerome Bruns, age 55, of Brookville, Indiana died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.
Born December 29, 1958 in Oxford, Ohio he was the son of the late Jerome Bruns & Betty R. (Lanning) Bruns Martin.
He was a Machinist and had worked for General Electric before becoming disabled. He had also farmed in Franklin County.
He was united in marriage to the former Lauren M. Carle on June 1, 1997, and she survives.
Rodney was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brookville, as well as the Knights of Columbus Council #1010 of Brookville.
In his leisure time he enjoyed playing board games, with his favorite game being Trouble, according to his girls. He also enjoyed riding ATV’s, tinkering with cars and watching television.
Besides Lauren, his wife of over 17 years, survivors include a son, Tony A. (Tricia) Bruns of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Maggie Bruns and Ellee Bruns both of Brookville; a grandson, Holdin Jerome Bruns; two sisters, Becky (Keith) Lanning of Brookville, Indiana and Pam (Tim) Stein of Oldenburg, Indiana one brother, Greg (Cindy) Bruns of Batavia, Ohio; as well as several nieces & nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Jill (Updike) Hofer Bruns.
Rev. Sean Danda will officiate the Funeral Mass on Monday, August 4, 2014, 10:30 A.M., at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brookville. Following cremation, burial will take place in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
Family & friends may visit from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M..

Macy’s will partner with Dearborn Highlands Arts Council to invite customers to participate in Macy’s 10th annual national “Shop for a Cause” charity shopping event on Saturday, August 29. Customers can purchase shopping passes for $5 each from the council now. Each pass saves 25% all day on regular, sale, and clearance items and 10% on electronics, watches, furniture, and more. Macy’s has provided the council with shopping passes to sell for $5 each and the council will keep 100% of every shopping pass it sells. Some exclusions apply on discounts obtained with the passes.
