Ripley County youth earns highest Girl Scout honor

Batesville, Ind. — Ripley County youth, Josie Wessler has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can receive. She will get the award at a June 17 ceremony at the Indianapolis Marriott.

Wessler’s project created a curriculum that focused on the importance of community service for children attending the St. Louis Catholic Church Bible School. The curriculum included opening and closing programs, skits, and several different stations, ranging from stories to daily missions. The program can be used at a camp or taught to preschool students and includes a website she created freebiblecampresources.my-free.website/.

Wessler is a graduate of Oldenburg Academy and plans to study mathematics at the University of Notre Dame. She is the daughter Carrie and Neil Wessler.
