Local emergency workers were provided training Wednesday.

Emergency workers were together Wednesday for training hosted by the Ripley County EMA and provided by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the Indiana Guard Reserve.

“The purpose was to learn how to set up a point of distribution in the event of a disaster,” said Ripley County Emergency Management Director Patrick Rose.

It would be the type of operation used during a significant disaster where people need essentials such as food and water.

Some organizations taking part in the training include the D9 Critical Incident Stress Management Team, Jennings County Health Department, Ripley County Health Department, and EMA organizations from Ripley, Decatur, Switzerland and Jefferson counties.
