Richard A. “Rick” Enneking

EnnekingRick2Richard A. “Rick” Enneking passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.  At 62, he was a Batesville resident for the majority of his life.

Rick was born at Margaret Mary on May 26, 1954 to parents Edna and Alphonse.  Along with his seven siblings, he attended St. Louis School where he met his future wife Jan (Pohlman).

After graduating from Batesville High School, he continued his education at Indiana University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in business.  He often reminisced about his time in Bloomington, especially when the Hoosier’s won the NCAA basketball title in 1976 – sealing the deal to make him a die-hard fan for the rest of his life.  In fact, he loved Bloomington so much that he often joked he would move in with children when they too moved to IU.

Married in 1975, he and Jan had four children together: Rick (37 of Batesville), John (35 of Batesville), Jeff (32 of Indianapolis) and Lauren (22 of Bloomington).  He embraced his role as father and grandfather and though he had many titles, these were probably his favorites.

He worked as an accountant his whole life and spent most of his professional career at Batesville Casket.  He truly loved his work and was always enthusiastic about going into the office each day – constantly urging his children to find professions they would enjoy just as much.

Rick is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, as well as siblings Jeanie Kramer of Greensburg, Dan Enneking of Naples, FL, Patti Weberding of Batesville, Donna Kraus of Sunman, Ron Enneking of Seattle, WA, Marilyn Weberding of Batesville and Jim Enneking of Bluffton, OH.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, June 13th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home and funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Church.
