Recovered Remains Likely Linked To Markham

Authorities say they found more skeletal remains in Franklin County that could belong to Katelyn Markham.

Markham disappeared from her Ohio home in August 2011 and her whereabouts were unknown until remains were discovered on Big Cedar Road near Cedar Grove a year ago this month.

The case has remained under investigation by the Indiana State Police, when detectives along with the Franklin County Coroner’s Office were dispatched to Big Cedar Grove on after a 911 call on April 10.

Investigators say a citizen called police after discovering remains near the same site the initial discovery was made in April 2013.

Texas Equusearch has been involved in search efforts since the Fairfield woman went missing. In conjunction with police and the coroner’s office, solitary human bones were recovered during searches on April 10 and April 19.

Police have not confirmed the identity of the skeletal remains, but believe they belong to Markham.

The remains were taken to Indianapolis on Monday for a post-mortem examination to confirm the identity by a forensic anthropologist.
