Fr. Randy Summers confirmed Sunday that he will leave St. Louis Church by the end of the month.

The pastor of St. Louis Church will soon be leaving the parish.

In a letter posted in the church bulletin on Sunday, Fr. Randy Summers, who has served as pastor since 2010, confirmed that he will depart from the parish by the end of July.

The priest said the move is the result of a disagreement with Indianapolis Archbishop Joseph W. Tobin.

Summers expressed in the letter, “My punishment is to be removed as the pastor of St. Louis and given an extended vacation to ponder what I would like to do next.”

“And as with most of these kinds of decisions, the one who truly suffers would be the people of the parish. You have my apologies for this. I want you all to know that I leave St. Louis with a sense of loss for the people whom I have loved being their pastor.”
