Police responded to Village in the Woods apartments for a report of an armed robbery on Wednesday

Three people are behind bars after an alleged armed robbery in Batesville including the victim’s own daughter.

Batesville Police responded to a residence at Village in the Woods apartments on Tekulve Road for a report of an armed robbery on Wednesday around 6:30 p.m.

The victim, a 44 year-old man, reported he was awakened in his bedroom by a male suspect armed with a knife. The victim told police he was forced into the living room of the residence, where he observed a second suspect, also armed with a knife.

Batesville Police Chief Stan Hold said the suspects demanded money and the victim’s car keys, then fled the residence, leaving in the victim’s 2001 Ford Focus.

The victim recognized the suspects as acquaintances of his 15 year-old daughter. The victim’s daughter fled the residence with the male suspects and was later determined to be involved in the robbery, Holt said.

The suspects were spotted by a Decatur County Sheriff’s Deputy about a half-hour later on I-74 at the Greensburg exit. Following a vehicle pursuit, all three suspects were taken into custody.

Three suspects were taken into custody including an 18-year-old male, Angel Camarena, of Batesville. Also arrested was a 16 year-old male and the victim’s 15 year-old daughter.

All three are facing charges of Armed Robbery and Criminal Confinement, both Class B felonies, along with Auto theft and theft, both class D felonies.

The juveniles are being held in a juvenile facility, while Camarena is being held in the Decatur County Jail on additional charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Motor Vehicle a class D felony and Reckless Driving a class B misdemeanor.

All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
