Paul David Gilb

gilbPaul David Gilb, 69, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016.

Paul was born February 26, 1947 in Batesville, Indiana to William and Juliana Gilb.

Paul had the distinction of being the first baby that Dr. Leslie Baker delivered. He attended St. John Lutheran School and was also confirmed in the faith. He was a 1966 graduate of Aurora High School. Paul enlisted and served in the US Navy aboard the USS Rankin, (proudly discharged). In 1967 Paul married the love of his life, Betty Sue Gulley Gilb. Three sons were born of this union, David “Scott” Gilb, Christopher Lee (Candy) Gilb and Ryan Benjamin “Ben” Gilb. He has 3 grandsons, Cory Scott Gilb, Alexander Lee “Zander” Gilb and Gavin Zackary Gilb, as well as one great grandson, Carson Michael Paul Gilb. Paul also loved his 1935 Husdon Terraplane “Terra” and his 2 pugs, Mac & Molly.

Paul worked at Kroger’s during high school and then had a career at CG&E (Duke Energy) where he retired from in 2001 as an I&C Supervisor. After his retirement, Paul proudly started his own company, Paul & Sons Trucking, Inc. VSRA was a big part of Paul’s life as well as all the friends. Paul was also very proud to be the VSRA Ind. Rep. There are so many friends Paul made; he loved his brothers and sisters, Pat, Paula, Prill and Philip; Paula Kay was his stem cell donor, we are forever humbled by her donation. They were with us every step, much love to all, Sue, Scott, Chris and Ben.

Friends will be received Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held Monday at 11:00 am at the St. John Lutheran Church, 220 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN. 47001.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
