Over Ninety Turned Out For YMCA 5K

Despite the heat, the Southeastern Indiana YMCA had an impressive turnout for the 2014 Music & Arts 5K Walk/ Run last week. Ninety-one participants of all ages completed the 3.1 mile route, with many more cheering them on as they crossed the finish line.

The following left with medals for speed in their age brackets:

Davis, Troy 17:37.2, 1st overall and 35-49 male age group

Kersey, Drew 24:00.6, 1st <11-14 male age group

Nuhring, Cole 19:34.1 1st 15-24 male age group

Holtkamp, Ryan 20:10.0, 1st 25-34 male age group

Wilson, Greg 23:01.2 1st 50-70 male age group

Females

Lopez, Maria 29:05.7, 1st <11-14 female age group

Crouch, Erica 26:43.4 1st 15-24 female age group

Holtkamp, Beth 25:03.0, 1st 25-34 female age group

Southeastern Indiana YMCA Executive Director, Angie Johnson said, “It was a great opportunity for families to walk together, as well as for students to take advantage of the discounted student rate. Becca Haugh, our wellness coordinator, and David Hoover, our senior program director did a great job planning the event for the community.”

“We are always excited each year to partner with the community and kick-off the Music & Arts festival with our 5K event.”
