Oldenburg hit with string of break-ins; residents on edge

OLDENBURG, Ind. – Oldenburg police are investigating a rash of auto and residential break-ins that occurred over the weekend.

Marshal Bill Dramann says his department is working to determine the exact amount of vehicles and homes involved.

He is also warning residents to lock doors and take belongings with them when a vehicle is left unattended.

We spoke with two victims who reported they were missing a firearm and iPod.  One resident admitted the gun was likely taken when the family was home.

“They’re taking this innocent town and making people lock their doors,” said the resident, who wished to remain anonymous.

In the past month, similar reports of vehicle break-ins have been reported in Versailles and Batesville. Authorities arrested a Westport man in November in connection to the alleged crimes.
