The office manager of a medical clinic in Greensburg is accused of selling prescription drugs to former patients of a doctor.

Melissa Tipton, 47, of Greensburg was arrested on numerous counts of conspiracy to deal in a schedule III controlled substance, a class B felony.

Investigators received a tip that Tipton was providing prescriptions for Suboxone, a narcotic used to treat addiction to opioids.

She allegedly sold the drug to former patients of Dr. Mustafa M. Rehab, of the Medical Clinic of Greensburg.

Police claim she was selling these prescriptions for $200 each and calling them into numerous pharmacies located throughout southeastern Indiana.

The investigation revealed Tipton allegedly provided 3,600 dosage units of Suboxone to at least ten different people on more than 160 occasions dating from June 2013 to June 2014.

Tipton was taken into custody and two agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Diversion Group traveled to Greensburg to meet with detectives and assist with the investigation.

According to Greensburg Police Chief Stacey Chasteen, the DEA is filing a complaint with the Indiana Attorney Generals Office against Dr. Rehab.

“The Greensburg Police Department would like to thank the community members that came forward and reported the illegal activity that Melissa was involved in regarding the diversion of prescription controlled substances,” Chasteen said.

Chasteen hinted that more arrests are possible.
