OLDENBURG, Ind. – Oldenburg Academy senior Hallie Kile lost her father, Joe Kile, to Huntington’s Disease last year.

Hallie is now making it her goal to raise awareness about the devastating degenerative brain disorder for which there is currently no cure.

“I was kind of afraid to share my story for a while and then I realized I have a passion for it,” Hallie says.

She is the ‘face’ of Huntington’s Disease National Youth Alliance for the month of November.

“I am really happy about it and it has been humbling because it is actually my dad’s birthday month,” Hallie explained. “I want to be able to raise awareness if I can!”

The National Youth Alliance provides education and support for youth coping with Huntington’s Disease.

Hallie has also been tabbed to write articles for Huntington’s Disease Youth Organization where she can “get in contact with other people my age that have dealt with the same situation.”
