A North Vernon man was killed and two people were injured Thursday afternoon on U.S. 50 in Jennings County.

Investigators say the three-vehicle crash occurred after Marcea L. Oetting, 43, of Orlando, Florida, was on U.S. 50 at the new S.R. 750 bypass.

Oetting turned into the intersection and was struck by a Ford F250 pulling a flatbed trailer driven by 21-year-old Zachary Ziegler of Westport.

The F250 struck the car and continued into the westbound lane where it collided with a 1996 Buick driven by 52-year-old Gregory E. Green, 52, of North Vernon.

“The force of the impact was so severe the Buick split in two,” ISP Sgt. Noel Houze said.

Green was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Ziegler and Oetting suffered minor bruising and lacerations. The crash remains under investigation.
