Nelson Alonzo Renfro, age 81, of Laurel, Indiana died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at St Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Born January 22, 1935 in Richmond, Kentucky he was the son of the late Speed & Susie (Brinegar) Renfro. On February 3, 1954 he and the former Evelyn Smith were united in marriage and she survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany.
He was a retired landscaper & farmer, and had lived in Franklin County for over 19 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed farming and the outdoors as well as old cars.
Besides Evelyn, his wife of over 62 years, survivors include three children, Debra (Tom Whipple) Richardson of Laurel, Indiana Ronald (Jamey) Renfro of Andersonville, Indiana and Barbara (Wiley) Gibson of New Carlisle, Ohio; 12 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, a son, James Renfro and a grandson, Joshua Dunn.
Family & friends may visit from 4 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville. And also again on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 1 until 3:00 P.M. at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, 507 West Jefferson Street, New Carlisle, Ohio 45344. Burial will then follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.
