Nancy L. Stirn, age 79, of Metamora, Indiana died Monday, February 10, 2014 at her residence.
Born December 5, 1934 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John & Cora (Turner) Riley. On October 18, 1952 she was united in marriage to Walter P. Stirn, and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2011.
She was a homemaker, and had also worked as a waitress at Wagner’s in Oldenburg and at the Oldenburg Lumber Company. She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Brookville.
Survivors include three sons & daughters-in-law, Dennis (Connie) Stirn of West Chester, Ohio, Michael (Barbara) Stirn of Madison, Wisconsin, Steve (Kim) Stirn of Metamora, Indiana; four grandchildren, Lindley Stirn, Lauren Stirn, Alex Stirn, Emily Stirn; three sisters, Helen Wagner of Oldenburg, Indiana, Mildred Gabbard of Laurel, Indiana, and Brenda Werner of West Alexandria, Ohio; and one brother, Henry Riley of Buena Vista, Indiana.
Besides her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nola Blake.
Family & friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon, Monday February 17, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Eric Hopkins will officiate the Funeral Services on Monday, February 17, 2014, 12:00 Noon, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home; burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3183 is sponsoring an art contest for students in grades 9-12. The contest is a great way to earn money for college. The art must be on paper or canvas and have a patriotic theme. Digital Art is not accepted. The art must be original. Judging is based on originality, presentation, and patriotism expressed. There are monetary awards given locally and at the state level. The national winners will receive scholarships. Home schooled students are eligible, foreign exchange are not. Your entry must be signed by a teacher. You can obtain an entry form by calling Kay Pulskamp, chairperson at 934-3442. Please submit your art by March 31, 2015. The first place winner will be sent to the State Scholarships Chairman for judging. Your art will be returned to you after judging is complete.
