Mrs. Charlotte (Coy) Purnell-Walker, age 94, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on May 8, 1922 in Florence, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Lawrence and Bertha (Scudder) Coy. She was raised in Switzerland County where she attended school. Charlotte was united in marriage on December 13, 1941, in Vevay, Indiana, to the late, Stanley Purnell and to this union arrived three sons, Charles, Galen and Gary and a daughter, Bonnie to bless their home. Charlotte was later united in marriage on February 17, 1962, in Carrollton, Kentucky to the late, Ralph Walker. Charlotte and Ralph shared 7 years of marriage together until Ralph passed away on April 24, 1969. Charlotte was employed as a cementer for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana for 17 years. She was also employed for Randall’s Textron Corporation in Vevay, Indiana for several years. Charlotte enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and for many other families. Charlotte was a member of the Center Square Baptist Church in Center Square, Indiana. Charlotte enjoyed crocheting, especially Christmas ornaments and table cloths and making handmade quilts. Charlotte passed away at 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2016, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Charlotte will be dearly missed by her: son: Galen Purnell and his wife: Penny of Moorefield, IN; her daughter-in-laws: Barbara Purnell of Vevay, IN and Becky Purnell of Vevay, IN; her son-in-law: John Lock of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren: Richard, Jeff, Mike, Shirley, Nickki, Joelle, Jenny, Galen, Jr., Mark and Eve; her great-grandchildren: Mandy, Hayden, Cody, Mia, Nathan, Justin, Tyler Louise, Charles, Tree, Jimi, Tripp, Jordan, Eric, Tyler, Chasity, Brandon, Christopher, Matthew, Seth, Amber, Dannielle, Mike and Zachary; her great-great-grandchildren: Faith, Landon, Jaxsin, Jrue Charles, Douglas, Brenden, Kyler, Kailee, Kieran, Kolten, Braylon, Brooklyn, Lane and Christielynn, Xain, Ben, Blake, Aaron, Kalob and Tucker and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence and Bertha (Scudder) Coy; her 1st husband: Stanley Purnell, died December 23, 1978; her 2nd husband: Ralph Walker, died April 24, 1969; her sons: Charles L. Purnell, died August 3, 2001 and Gary Purnell, died July 13, 2015; her daughter: Bonnie Jean Lock, died February 28, 2014; her grandson: Danny Lock, died March 15, 1998; her great-great-grandsons: Patrick Otter, Hayden Lock and Lincoln Vinson, died August 9, 2016 and her brothers: Gerald Coy and Edwin Coy.
