MMH Welcomes Last Baby of 2013, First Of 2014

Special recognition is given to the first baby of the year at Margaret Mary Health each January. Courtesy of H&R Block, the last baby of 2013 also received attention and giveaways.

Born at 7:38 a.m. on Dec. 31, Ayden James was the last baby born at Margaret Mary in 2013 to parents Jennifer Hamilton and Tyler Davidson of Greensburg. Delivered by Lee Ann Bauer, MD, he weighed 8 lbs., 7 oz. and is 19 inches long. For being the last baby of 2013, H&R Block gave Ayden a basket full of goodies including diapers, laundry detergent, a piggy bank, onesies and a bib that reads “I am a new tax deduction.”

Born at 2:31 p.m. on Jan. 2, Ezabella Balbina became the first baby born at Margaret Mary in 2014. Delivered by Jeffrey Hatcher, MD, she is shown with parents Sylvie Akaba and Ernest Laug, as well as siblings Grace and Michael, all of Milan. She weighed 6 lbs., 10 oz. and is 19 inches long. For being the first baby of 2014, Margaret Mary presented Ezabella with a $50 gift card.

VFW Post 3183 American Legion Post 271 The Honor Guard and Firing Squad will honor our deceased beterans with a brief ceremony at each of six local cemetereis. Each ceremony will consist of a brief prayer, three volleys of fire and the playing of Taps. The schedule is as follows: 8:00 AM – Holy family Cemetery (Oldenburg) 8:30 AM – Saint Anthony Cemetery (Morris) 9:00 AM – Saint Mark Cemetery 9:30 AM – Saint John Cemetery (Huntersville) 10:00 AM – Saint Louis Cemetery 10:30 AM – Methodist Cemetery This will be followed by Memorial Day observance at Liberty Park at 11:00 AM, hosted by the American Legion. St. Paul United Methodist Church is having its annual Memorial Day Service on May 30 at 10 AM. Rev. Bill Helms is the speaker. A short business meeting will follow the service. The Sunman American Legion will have a military service at the cemetery at 11 AM. Also, the United Methodist Women are service a roast beef dinner from 11 AM to 1 PM. The menu also includes mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, various salads, and homemade pies. Freewill offering. Carry-outs at $9.
