Michael L. Cloney, 64, of Holton passed away at 5am Monday, March 7, 2016 at his home. He was born at Blue Island, Illinois on April 5, 1951 the son of Lester and Doretha Mann Cloney. He was married to Teresa Szymanski on September 8, 1973 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons Michael (Peni) Cloney of Holton, and Robert Cloney and companion Gaylea Montijo of Palm Beach, Florida; three daughters Doretha (Ken) Krawczyk of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, Kathleen (Michael) Doyle of Antioch, Illinois, and Geraldine Cloney and her companion Lucas Singer of Wonder Lake, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson; one brother John (Aggie) Cloney of California; two sisters Judy Richardson of Florida and Pat (John) Evans of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Damien Cloney, and his sisters Geraldine Daum and Mary Piekarz. Mr. Cloney was a retired trucker having driven for Burlington Motor Carriers of Joplin, Missouri and Red Wing Trucking in Lincoln, Illinois. He and Teresa moved from Wonder Lake, Illinois to Holton in 2001 where they owned and operated M & T Sales selling collectables. They also worked flea markets in Friendship, Cleves, Ohio, and the Highway 127 sale in Kentucky. They worked various car shows in Ohio and Indiana as well as the Poultry Festival in Lucasville, Ohio. Michael also drove the dirt track circuit in Illinois and Wisconsin. Michael’s favorite pastime was making everyone laugh as he picked on them, but everyone also enjoyed receiving his big hugs. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11th at 6pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Mitch Harrell of the Zenas Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will begin at 3pm. Memorials may be given to Lifetime Resources or the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
