Mary Elizabeth (Riley) Baker , age 92, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 2, 1921, in Vevay, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Frank & Maude (Scott) Riley. She was raised in Vevay, Indiana, where she was a 1939 graduate of Vevay High School & attended Indiana University. Mary was united in marriage on March 28, 1942, at the Tyson Temple United Methodist Church by Rev. Redmon in Versailles, Indiana, to the late, Harry Stanley Baker & to this union arrived a son, James Franklin to bless their home. Mary & Harry shared 21 years of marriage together until his death on March 17, 1963. She was a former Librarian Assistant for the Switzerland County Public Library & was a former employee at an Insurance Office in Vevay, Indiana, for several years. She was a member of Tri Kappa, Center Square Home Economics Club & the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church in Vevay, Indiana. She was past Matron of the Bennington Order of Eastern Star Lodge #407. Mary was a wonderful homemaker & enjoyed sewing & reading. Mary died at 4:55 pm, Saturday May 3, 2014, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Mary will be missed by her son: James Franklin Baker of Vevay, IN; her nephew: Billy Riley; her nieces: Mary Elizabeth Riley & Maude Ann Okroy.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank & Maude (Scott) Riley; her husband: Harry Stanley Baker, died March 17, 1963; her brothers: Russell Riley, died May 7, 1991, Stewart Riley, died June 12, 2002; her niece: Diane Yaple; her cousins: Hazel Bunger, Virginia Botts, Londalee Anderson & Shirley Bigle.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 1:00 pm, by Pastor K.C. Banta, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Rising Sun New Cemetery, Rising Sun, Indiana.

Tri Kappa Services will be conducted at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the funeral home. Bennington Order of Eastern Star Lodge #407 will be conducted at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the funeral home.

Friends may call 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to Switzerland Lodge #122 F&AM Building Fund or Indiana Masonic Home. Cards are available at the funeral home.

We will provide a light lunch, at no cost, while discussing how we are serving the abused and neglected children in Jefferson and Ripley counties.
