Margaret Ann Carpenter, 77 of Versailles passed away Thursday February 13, 2014 Dearborn County Hospital at Lawrenceburg. Margaret was born Tuesday September 29, 1936 in Ripley County, IN the daughter of William and Jessie (Henderson) White. She married Donald Carpenter in 1993 and he survives. She worked at US Shoe in Osgood for many years, retiring in 1990. She like growing roses, and singing and playing her guitar, but her passion in life was spending time with her husband, Grandchildren and other family. She was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church at Osgood.  

Margaret is survived by husband: Donald Carpenter of Versailles,  sons: Richard (Eva) Dean Jr. of Dillsboro,  James Dean Sr. of New Point,  Martin Dean of Arizona; Sisters: Lettie Hicks of Osgood, Ethel Peters of Milan, 4 Grandchildren, 3 Great granchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by one daughter Glenna Merida, one Brother, and two Sisters.

Funeral Services will be 11AM Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with pastor Garland Rudd officiating.  Burial will be Greendale Cemetery at Osgood.  Visitation will be 6-8PM Monday February 17, 2014 also at the funeral home. St. Louis Catholic Church is having their Mock Turtle Soup Sale! Monday, September 15- noon-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 16- 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 17-Friday, September 19- 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 21- during the annual St. Louis Church Festival, theMock Turtle Soup will be available for sale until it’s gone. Please enter through the Activity Center doors only! The soup will also be available through the week at Schmidt’s Bakery during their normal business hours. If you have any empty quart, half-gallon, or gallon jars you can spare (or canning lids and/or rings), you can bring them to the SLS Activity Center or Schmidt’s Bakery, as jars and lids are still needed to bottle the soup throughout the week.

The Annual 21st Crackaway Daze Festival will be held on September 20 – 21 at the Saltcreek Township Park in New Point, Indiana (located 8 miles east of Greensburg or 6 miles west of Batesville on Hwy 46 or south 850 just off of I-74 Exit 143. Park is on left along Hwy 46). Parade at 11:00 am on Saturday. Flea market in the park (contact Rosa at 812-593-7611 or email at rosa@etczone.com). Great food for both days (roast plus more on Saturday). Our famous fried chicken with all the trimmings on Sunday, served by the New Point Kiwanis Club. Homemade ice cream by Smyrna Church. Fun for the kids and adults (bed race, antique cars and trucks and farm equipment, kettle bean soup). Entertainment, drawings (50/50 pot), hot dog stand, snow cones and much more!
