RIPLEY COUNTY — Authorities say a man wanted in Dearborn County jumped out of a moving vehicle hoping to avoid law enforcement capture.

Deputies received a tip Sunday night that Perry Bruce, 34, of Cleves, Ohio, was en route to a location in Ripley County from Metamora.

There was a warrant for his arrested for failure to appear in court in Dearborn County, police said.

Authorities learned that Bruce was a passenger in a black Ford 500 eastbound on U.S. 50 from County Road 750 East. Officers were able to catch up to the suspected vehicle near Dillsboro and attempted to pull the car over.

As the Ford was slowing down police say Bruce jumped from the passenger side of the vehicle and fled from officers into a wooded area.

Officers set up a perimeter around the area and used a police K-9 for assistance. Bruce remained on the run for an hour before being taken into custody without incident.

Bruce was booked into the Dearborn County Jail on the original warrant. He is also facing charges for suspicion of resisting arrest and possession of hypodermic needles.

Investigators say they are also looking into the driver of the Ford, Karen Bruce, for allegedly driving while suspended and possession of hypodermic needles.
