Lisa Barnett, English and drama instructor from Batesville Community Schools, recently lost her father, Ronald McCloud, at the age of 90. Mr. McCloud lived in Hanover, Indiana, when he passed away. He was born in Putnam County, Indiana, and he was raised in the Bedford Community. He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1940. He attended Earlham College in Richmond where he ran cross country for the Quakers and was later inducted into the Track Hall of Fame. It is interesting to me that his son-in-law, Thomas Barnett, is now the head boys’ cross country coach at Batesville High School after spending more than 20 years as coach of the Middle School runners. Mr. McCloud’s grandson, Trent, is a current runner on the Batesville Varsity Boys’ Team. Ronald McCloud was a decorated soldier in World War II. During his lifetime, he spent more than 40 years with the Social Security Administration and was manager of the Madison Office. We want to extend our sympathy to his family!
