Leroy LopezLeroy P. Lopez, age 79, of Sunman, Indiana, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at his residence.

He was born February 25, 1934 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Nathaniel Warren and Hattie Mulundre Potter.  Leroy married Jeanette Franklin Lopez and she preceded him in death on August 5, 2001.  He had been an amateur boxer and was known as “Louie the Looper.”  Leroy worked at Batesville Casket Company, retiring from there after 22 years of service and was also co-owner with his wife of Ma & Pa’s Restaurant during the 80’s in Sunman.  After working 2nd shift at Casket, he hand made from scratch each night the biscuits and gravy for the restaurant each day.  Leroy also co-owned The Charter House in Sunman for 7 years.

 

Those surviving who will honor Leroy’s memory include children, LolaSue Sanders of Jensen Beach, FL; grandsons, Micah Webster and Heath Webster, both of Cincinnati; two sisters, Toni, living in Hawaai, and Anita, living in Las Vegas; brother, Nick, living in Hawaai; and numerous nieces and nephews including Mary (Pebbles) Allen of Corydon, IN and Amber Lynn Elder of Rising Sun.  Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Steven Brian Jump in 2002, and several brothers and sisters.

 

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date.  Friends and family are encouraged to support Leroy’s favorite charities; St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.  Personal condolences may be left for the family at www.cookfuneral.com

We will provide a light lunch, at no cost, while discussing how we are serving the abused and neglected children in Jefferson and Ripley counties.
