Lady Trojans Volleyball Teams Get ‘W’s’

VolleyballEast Central Volleyball traveled to Oldenburg Academy tonight to face the Lady Twisters. The Lady Trojans came out on top 25-9, 25-21, and 25-16.

‘We played very well in game one by keeping our errors very minimal. We didn’t do that as well in games two and three.’  EC Coach Cassie Laker.

It was a good opportunity to get our juniors some solid varsity playing time. We have so much talent in the junior and senior classes that it’s hard on the juniors who deserve to be playing varsity but aren’t. We rested a few of our core players battling injury and illness. It was a night of change and adjustment.

Game three was full of our own errors, but we played well enough to come out on top. That’s something we have to work on. Our number of errors has to drop if we want to succeed in the post season. The good news is, we have time to fix that problem.
EC Varsity is now 8-4 on the season.

EC Freshman Volleyball won in two tonight vs Colerain at home.
Scores: 25-3 and 25-11.

The girls totaled 33 aces – Skeens (8, 8/10 overall), McComas (9, 9/10), Langefeld (7, 7/8), and Campbell (9, 9/10) leading the team.   Skeens had two strategic tips, as did Langefeld, resulting in kills. Across the board, our front row players did an excellent job reading the hitters and transitioning off the net – two areas we have been working on improving. Gregg and Whitehead led in digs but all of our defensive specialists were consistent and communicative.

‘This team gets better every game. We continue to work on maintaining our momentum and balancing great serves and missed serves, however, these girls are pushing themselves beyond good serves and focusing on power and placement. Additionally, serve receive was excellent with only one serve reception error. I’ve been challenging them via our serve receive formation and they have done a great job stepping up to meet that challenge. I’m proud to see improvements every game and seeing that they are having fun simultaneously.’  EC Coach Rachel James.

EC current record is 5-0.  Next game is Thursday at home vs Lawrenceburg @ 5 PM.
