Lady Trojans VB’ers Earn ‘Hat Trick’ Over Lady Bulldogs

VolleyballEC Volleyball swept the Lady Bulldogs for the second time this season, but it was a completely different game.

Varsity won in four by the scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-19.

Batesville vs. EC Varsity VB (9-15)

‘We didn’t come to play tonight. Individually, the girls played well. We struggled at playing as a team tonight. This definitely wasn’t one of our best games of the season, but I’m proud of them for pulling it out. I don’t want to take anything away from Batesville though. They came to play and fought every point, even when it looked like the game was over. They never quit and pushed us to our limits. They have improved tremendously since our first match-up.  We went in with a very specific game plan again. It was very similar to our plan from the first time we played Batesville, but we didn’t follow through with it nearly as well. We had our moments, good and bad, but we will take a lot from this match. We have a lot of work to do as the post season rolls around, but I have no doubt that these girls will put in their time. When push comes to shove, they get the job done.’  EC Coach Cassie Laker.

The Lady Trojans win The JV Battle 25-24, 25-23

Batesville vs. EC JV VB (9-15)

‘The team started out playing a controlled game leading in the score. Then we got in a rotation that our passers started to struggle with Batesville taking the lead. With some adjustments and having the Junior players pick up their intensity and earning points, the lady Trojans won. Game two was close all the way through but the team kept the intensity to take the second game as well.’  EC Coach Bernice Rosemeyer.

‘We started off slow but we picked up our intensity and made a come back in the first game. The whole team played well this evening. I am proud of each of their contributions, and most especially for encouraging one another and incorporating the communication and coverage we focused on in practice.’  EC Coach Rachel James.

Next Freshman game is on Monday, September 22nd at 5 PM at Lawrenceburg.

EC Varsity is now 11-4 on the season and 7-0 in conference play.
Next up: Rushville Thursday at EC at 6 PM.

Batesville loses to EC but shows vast improvements from the last meeting.

“We were a strong fighting team when our backs were against the wall, but we shouldn’t have to wait for that moment to show that kind of play/tenacity. In the end we are showing improvement, which is what we need. Our interest is growing stronger all season and showing a strong united post season.’  Batesville Coach Jody Thomas.
