Lady Trojans Defeat Lady Tigers In Volleyball

TVolleyballhe East Central Volleyball Team defended their home court in conference play tonight, sweeping the Lawrenceburg Tigers in straight sets all three levels.  Varsity won with the scores of 25-16, 26-24, and 25-14.

East Central vs Lawrenceburg Volleyball (9-4)

It was a solid match all the way around. Lawrenceburg has a very strong team and refused to give up. The scores don’t show how hard both teams fought in each set.

‘We followed our game plan very well, even though it doesn’t look like it by the score in game two. We started off strong and ended strong because our intensity was high. In game two, our intensity dropped and our unforced errors more than doubled our errors in game one. Our seniors stepped up when it came down to the wire to finish with the win.  ‘My girls showed more effort and hustle than I have seen so far this season. They were playing balls they would have never gotten to 2 or 3 weeks ago. That’s the kind of progress I like to see.’  EC Coach Cassie Laker.

Varsity is now 9-4 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.

East Central Junior volleyball played Lawrenceburg on their home court last night winning 25-19 and 25-22.

Serves were lead by Becca Eckstein 13/15 with 1 ace, Attacks Therese Gregg 12/13 with 7 kills, Brianna Hart 12/13 with 5 kills.

‘Lawrenceburg was one of the tougher teams they have played this season. EC struggled with passing and sets tight to the net but did not let the errors keep them of a victory. With good plays through out the game and strong serving the team won the match in two games. ‘   EC Coach Bernice Rosemeyer.

Next match is a conference match on Wednesday (9-10) at home against Rushville with The JV starting at 5 PM.

EC Freshman won in two tonight: 25-19, 25-16.

Johnson and Langefeld led us in kills with 5 each; Whitehead and McComas in digs, 9 and 6 respectively; Gregg and Whitehead with the most ‘on target’ serve reception; and Skeens and Alig had a plethora of great sets and strategic tips. The Freshman are working on getting better at every aspect of the game and strengthening their play at more than one position.

‘I am proud of their flexibility and willingness to go beyond their primary role. Lawrenceburg is one of our tougher teams and they showed up to win today. Both games started point by point until that mid-way point where EC stepped up their intensity. Our intensity makes a big difference and is still as aspect of the game we need to improve – especially in regards to consistency.’  EC Coach Rachel James.

They are now 6-0 for the season. Our next game is Thursday, September 11th at South Dearborn.
