Lady Pirates Whitewash Lady Patriots In Soccer Play

SoccerThe Greensburg Lady Pirates Soccer team hosted the Lady Patriots of Union County Saturday morning and came away with a 3-0 shut-out win.

Sharing Keeper duties were McKella Lynette and Emma Overmyer and they combined to stop 5 shots on goal. The defensive line created 5 off-side traps and neutralized the attacking runs from the visitors.

After a sluggish start by the entire team, Maddi Hellmich sparked the team as she found the back of the net at the 21 minute mark of the first half.
She collected a ball that was played across the face of the goal and reset it for the goal. With 41 seconds left in the half, Stephanie Bruns assisted
Kasey Moeller for the second goal. With 19 minutes to play, Hellmich found the net again to seal the 3-0 win.

The Lady Pirates had 23 shots on goal and dominated play throughout the game. Players with shots on goal were: Hellmich, Moeller, Bruns, Savannah Harrison, Cara Zeigler, Brooke Martin and Sierra Aylsworth.

The Lady Pirates will be in action this week as they travel to Batesville on Thursday. The JV match will begin at 5PM with the Varsity to follow.

On Saturday, the team will travel to Oldenburg for a noon match after the OA boys and Greensburg boys play at 10AM.
