Lady Pirates Fall Short Against Lady Owls In Soccer

SoccerThe Lady Pirates soccer team travelled to Seymour Tuesday evening for a non-conference match with the Lady Owls. The hosts prevailed 2-0 in the varsity contest while the visiting Lady Pirates won the JV match 3-0.

In varsity play, the first goal scored was an unfortunate one for the Lady Pirates. The defense had set their offside trap but the call was missed
(even though the ref admitted at halftime his mistake). With five minutes remaining in the first half the Lady Pirates were unable to clear the ball
up-field and Seymour used a beautiful give-go to set up their second goal. The Lady Pirates were not without scoring opportunities throughout the
night. Seymour’s keeper and defensive stopper did an excellent job of shutting down attacks. The Lady Pirates record 16 shots on goal with another 8 off frame.

Taking shots were: Danielle Schroeder, Kasey Moeller, Maddi Hellmich, Sierra Aylsworth, Michaela Myers, Cara Zeigler, and Abby Bausback. McKella Lynette record 12 saves of shots on goal and allowed 2 goals.

The loss drops the Lady Pirates to 3-4-1 on the season.

The JV squad earned their first shut-out win of the season. After playing a scoreless first half, Brooke Martin found the net off a corner kick. A few
minutes later Riley McCreary found the back of the net with an assist from Alyssa Allen and Tess Luers completed the scoring with an assist from
McCreary. Emily Lowe made five saves on the evening in net. Taking shots were: Martin, McCreary, Luers, Julia Pacilio, Alyssa Allen, Emma
Overmyer and Keirsten Lynette.

The win brings the JV record to 1-2-2.

The Lady Pirates will be in action Thursday at Franklin County for a 5PM kickoff with the Lady Wildcats.
