Lady Pirates Battle Lady Cubs In Soccer

SoccerThe Lady Pirates traveled to Madison and fell to the Lady Cubs 2-1.

Madison passed and possessed the ball well and utilized a direct kick and a late breakaway to earn the victory. Maddi Hellmich scored the lone goal off an assist from Julia Pacilio for Greensburg with 25 minutes to play giving the Lady Pirates a 1-0 advantage. The late surge and constant hustle of the home team lead them to victory with their goals at the 17 and 4 minute marks.

The Lady Pirates outshot the Lady Cubs 20 to 10 in the contest and McKella Lynette made 8 saves. Taking shots for Greensburg were: Maddi Hellmich, Abby Bailey, Keirsten Lynnette, Emma Hellmich, Michaela Myers, Julia Pacilio, Emma Overmyer and Abby Easley. The loss drops the Lady Pirates to 3-3-1 for the season.

The JV Lady Pirates played to a 0-0 tie for the second straight match.

Emily Lowe secured the shut out with 9 saves and Sara Brown also made a kick save. Easley, Katelyn Hall and Holly Reed all shots on goal for the Lady Pirates.

Both teams will be in action next Tuesday as they host the Lady Owls from Seymour with a 5:30 Varsity kickoff and JV half after.
