Lady Bulldogs 1st At JC CC Meet-Boys Place 2nd

Cross CountryCongratulations to the Batesville High School Girls Cross Country team as they continued their undefeated season Tuesday night capturing the championship trophy at the 10 team Jennings County Invitational.

Batesville scored a low 23 points as all 7 varsity runners were in the top 25, in fact they all crossed the line in the top 16 of the race. Kelsey Gausman was the Invitational champion by over 20 seconds running a 20:12. She was followed by 5 of her teammates as we took 6 of the top 10 places, receiving 5th was Mary Poltrack (21:23), Sarah Poltrack, 6th (21:25), Maria Wessel, 7th (21:41), Emma Gausman, 8th (21:48) and Katie Baumer, 9th (22:15). Finishing out our top 7 at a very respectable 16th place was Kylie Lehman, 16th (22:39)

Congratulations ladies for a dominating performance! Other team scores in the top 5 were: Southwestern-63, Jennings County-73, Madison-94 and South Ripley-123.

Although the JV race was not scored or awards given, Batesville had all the girls in the top 1/4 of the race. They were led by Jamie Day (24:15), Molly Weigel (24:25), Mary Catherine Barnett (24:40), Bre Hartman (24:44), Candice Roell (24:56), Sarah Canady (25:15), and Heidi Shaw (25:49).

The Bulldogs also had 4 runners perform their personal best and they were: Emma Gausman, Katie Baumer, Jamie Day and Candice Roell. Congratulations ladies on some fantastic performances on a muddy course.

Best of luck Saturday at the South Dearborn Invitational as they look to keep the undefeated season going!

The Batesville Boys Cross Country team traveled to North Vernon Tuesday evening to compete in the Big Blue Invite.

Of the 9 Teams competing, Batesville came in second place with 69 points. Coming in first was Austin High School with 65. In third was Madison with 83.

Coming in first for the boys and tying his own PR was Cole Nuhring with a time of 17:23. Following him for Batesville, and also recording a PR was Caleb Moster with a time of 17:27. The third finisher for Batesville, and also another
PR runner, with a time of 17:42, was Connor Bell. Finishing up the scoring for Batesville were Chris Riffle with a time of 19:01 and Clay Yeaton with a time of 19:09. Also running on the varsity squad were Calvin Lehman with a time of 19:24 and Elliot Main with a time of 19:26, which is also a PR time.
