Karen Michelle Wren, age 52

Karen Michelle Wren, age 52 of Harrison, OH passed away at her home on January 5, 2014.  Born June 12, 1961 she is the daughter of Robert J. Cole & Virginia (Lewis) Pierce.   Karen worked in sales for Defender Direct.

Karen is survived by her parents Robert J. Cole of Harrison, OH & Virginia Pierce of Harrison, OH; children Justin (Amy) Wren of Batesville, IN; Dana (Chris) Haines of Columbus, OH & Charlie (Lisa) Pierce of Ft. Bragg, NC.  She will also be missed by her 11 grandchildren and sisters Robin Cole of Harrison, OH & Lisa Gallegos of Phoenix, AZ.  She was preceded in death by her brother Robert “Butch” Cole Jr.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 4pm until time of services at 5pm at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH with Rev. Dr. Harold Shackelford officiating.  Memorials are suggested to the family c/o the funeral home.  Online condolences at www.jkmfuneralhome.com

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3183 is sponsoring an art contest for students in grades 9-12. The contest is a great way to earn money for college. The art must be on paper or canvas and have a patriotic theme. Digital Art is not accepted. The art must be original. Judging is based on originality, presentation, and patriotism expressed. There are monetary awards given locally and at the state level. The national winners will receive scholarships. Home schooled students are eligible, foreign exchange are not. Your entry must be signed by a teacher. You can obtain an entry form by calling Kay Pulskamp, chairperson at 934-3442. Please submit your art by March 31, 2015. The first place winner will be sent to the State Scholarships Chairman for judging. Your art will be returned to you after judging is complete.
