Judge hands down 8 year sentence for drunk driver

BROOKVILLE, Ind. – A 23-year-old who was the driver in a fatal August 2013 crash is going to prison.

Jared Seale pleaded guilty last month to drinking and driving in an accident that claimed the life of Clay Meyers, a passenger in the vehicle.

Detectives told us Seale, and three other friends, were returning from a night out at Indian Creek Tavern in Riley, Ohio. The crash occurred on Indiana 252 near the intersection State Line Road on August 10, 2013.

Over a dozen people gave testimony before Franklin County Judge Steven Cox made the decision to sentence Seale to eight years in prison with two years suspended.

The judge left open the possibility of modifying the sentence in the future based on good behavior, the Brookville Democrat reports.

Seale spoke during the sentencing hearing and said he prays for forgiveness.
