Juanita (Jones) Cooper

Mrs. Juanita (Jones) Cooper , age 66, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 19, 1947, in Barbourville, Kentucky, the daughter of, Kenneth Ray & Martha (Miles) Jones. She was raised in Barbourville, Kentucky, where she attended school. Juanita was united in marriage on June 8, 1974, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late, Robert Jack Cooper & to this union arrived four sons & two daughters to bless their home. Juanita & Robert shared 28 years of marriage together until his death on October 20, 2002. Juanita was employed at US Shoe Factory (9-West) in Vevay, Indiana, retiring after 10 years of service. She was a former employee for Clopay in Cincinnati, Ohio & volunteered at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Juanita resided in the Switzerland County Community, since 1985. Juanita enjoyed taking care & raising her granddaughter, Ashley. Juanita died at 9:00 pm, Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Juanita will be missed by her sons: Jason Cooper & his wife: Rodelyn of Florence, KY; Jack Cooper & his wife: Rachel of Florence, KY; Neal Cooper of Mason, OH; Kenneth Cooper of Cincinnati, OH; her daughters: Robin Shover of New Port, KY; Toni Harper of South Lebanon, OH; her mother: Martha (Miles) Jones of Decoursey, KY; her 25-grandchildren & 1-great-grandchild; her sisters: Frances Heinrich of Cincinnati, OH; Candy Green of Union, KY; her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father: Kenneth Ray Jones; her husband: Robert Jack Cooper; her sister: LaVonne “Peanuts” Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 1:00 pm, by Rev. Ronald Sandidge, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.  Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery on the Cooper Family Farm, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 23, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vevay American Legion Post #185 Relief Fund or the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Relief Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.

St. Louis Catholic Church is having their Mock Turtle Soup Sale! Monday, September 15- noon-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 16- 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 17-Friday, September 19- 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 21- during the annual St. Louis Church Festival, theMock Turtle Soup will be available for sale until it’s gone. Please enter through the Activity Center doors only! The soup will also be available through the week at Schmidt’s Bakery during their normal business hours. If you have any empty quart, half-gallon, or gallon jars you can spare (or canning lids and/or rings), you can bring them to the SLS Activity Center or Schmidt’s Bakery, as jars and lids are still needed to bottle the soup throughout the week.

The Annual 21st Crackaway Daze Festival will be held on September 20 – 21 at the Saltcreek Township Park in New Point, Indiana (located 8 miles east of Greensburg or 6 miles west of Batesville on Hwy 46 or south 850 just off of I-74 Exit 143. Park is on left along Hwy 46). Parade at 11:00 am on Saturday. Flea market in the park (contact Rosa at 812-593-7611 or email at rosa@etczone.com). Great food for both days (roast plus more on Saturday). Our famous fried chicken with all the trimmings on Sunday, served by the New Point Kiwanis Club. Homemade ice cream by Smyrna Church. Fun for the kids and adults (bed race, antique cars and trucks and farm equipment, kettle bean soup). Entertainment, drawings (50/50 pot), hot dog stand, snow cones and much more!
