Ira Ray Tomlin, age 77, of Blooming Grove, Indiana died Monday, February 10, 2014 at Lincoln Center East in Connersville, Indiana.
Born January 10, 1937 in Franklin County, Indiana he was the son of the late Arthur M. & Annabelle (Wright) Tomlin. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. On February 14, 1978 he was united in marriage to the former Brenda Summey, and she survives.
Ray was retired from the former Ford/Visteon in Connersville, Indiana where he had worked for 40 years; after his retirement from Ford he went to work at the Brookville Save-A-Lot Store where he worked for another 13 years. He was a member of Blooming Grove First Baptist Church.
Besides Brenda, his wife of 36 years, survivors include one son, Christopher Tomlin of Florence, Kentucky; a granddaughter, Megan Tomlin; as well as a sister, Pearl L. Miller of Metamora, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Family & friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Pastor Wendell Harrison will officiate the Funeral Services on Thursday, February 13, 2014, 12:00 Noon, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial with Full Military Graveside Honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.

The Batesville United Methodist Church, in partnership with Margaret Mary Health, will soon be offering a cancer support group whose goal is to ensure access to valuable community resources to those living with cancer. The group will also provide hope, encouragement, education and sanctuary. HOPE will meet on the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM at the Batesville United Methodist Church and will feature a guest speaker, time for topic discussion and fellowship. The Batesville community and beyond are invited to attend! The first session is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 and will feature a discussion around the emotional rollercoaster of cancer and the fear of recurrence.
