Update (May 2 @ 8:17 a.m.)

U.S. 52 has reopened Friday, exactly a month after it closed.

Indiana Department of Transportation officials say drivers can now take the road which was closed east of Brookville for emergency slide repairs.

First Report (May 1 @6:19 a.m.)

U.S. 52 east of Brookville could reopen Friday after a month of emergency slide repairs.

“If everything goes well and the sun keeps shining, we may be able to reopen U.S. 52 at the slide site on Friday,” INDOT spokesperson Harry Maginity said.

Highway crews have completed patchwork and a guardrail is scheduled to be installed Thursday.

Last week, INDOT estimated the reopening during the second week of May.
